Glenda was a devout Christian woman, and she served as the source of faith and spiritual inspiration for her family and those who called her “friend”. She lived a life of service – service to God, service to her family, and service to the nursing profession and the patients she cared so deeply for every day of her professional career.
Glenda passed away peacefully at home under the loving care of her family on Dec 22, 2024, at the age of 72. She was born in Chillicothe, Missouri on Nov. 29, 1952, to Clarence and Virgina Grimes. She graduated from Skyline High School in Urbana, Missouri in 1970.
On January 23, 1971, she married Rickie Percival at the preacher’s house in Branch, Missouri. Together, they had and raised three children, Stephanie, Scott, and Jacob. Rickie and Glenda shared 53 years of loving, devoted marriage together.
Glenda’s sole occupation during her professional career was being a nurse. She Graduated from the St. Luke’s School of Nursing as a Registered nurse in 1973 and served as a nurse for more than 40 years. While working, she attended and graduated from Southwest Baptist University in 1989 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. She held many nursing positions throughout her career and was blessed to serve the community of Harrisonville as the Director of nursing and later as the Chief Nursing officer at Cass Regional Medical Center.
Glenda enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life. She collected antiques and spent many years quilting and cross-stitching. She loved being outdoors and experiencing all the beauty of her home state of Missouri. Her outdoor passions included fishing, gardening, and watching hummingbirds. Most of all though, she loved being with family and connecting with those she knew and loved.
Glenda was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Grimes, and her mother, Virginia Grimes. She is survived by her husband, Rickie Percival; her three children, Stephanie Percival, Scott Percival, Jacob (Allison) Percival; eight grandchildren; one great granddaughter, and her sister, Vera (Sam) Gibson.
