Glenn W. Gunnels Sr., 71, passed away on November 1, 2023, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Glenn was born February 26, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Arvilla (Roy) Gunnels and Lloyd E. Gunnels. He grew up in Grandview, Missouri, graduating from Grandview High School in 1970. Glenn started driving trucks for the family business G&G Trucking at the age of 17, and soon established his own business and started a family. Upon moving to Harrisonville in 1980, he spent his time growing G & G Materials and Trucking Co., along with pursuing his interest in farming. During the next 20 years, Glenn grew various crops before eventually turning his land into a profitable sod farming business. In 2005, he moved to Freeman, Missouri, where he returned to crop farming and enjoyed life at a slower pace. Glenn loved his family and was a proud father and grandfather. He was a strong, hard-working man with a good sense of humor and entrepreneurial spirit. Glenn was knowledgeable about trucks and machinery and could get anything up and running. Over the years, he also developed a love of cooking and enjoyed “getting the smoker going” to share barbeque with friends and family.
Glenn is survived by three children, Wayne (Kara) Gunnels, Bridget (Paul) DiMercurio, and Brent Gunnels. He has three grandchildren, Bella DiMercurio, Cecilia DiMercurio, and Amelia DiMercurio. Glenn has one sibling, Thresa (Rob) Gunnels-Mays, niece Lacey (Al) Amador, and nephew, Robbie (Kina) Gunnels along with great nieces Frida Amador, Stella Amador, and great nephews Karter Gunnels, and Tysen Brennan, and life partner Sharon Westover.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Arvilla Gunnels.
