Guy Benny Brown was born January 15, 1943, in Harrisonville, Missouri, the son of John Milton Brown and Grace Irene (Crissman) Brown. He departed this life Friday, April 24, 2009, at his family home in Freeman, Mo., at the age of 66 years, 3 months, 9 days.
Guy spent his entire life in the Freeman area and was a member of the Freeman Baptist Church for over 50 years. He was an Eagle Scout and Warrior in the Tribe of the Mic-O-Say and was know as Silent Gray Otter. He strongly believed in The Scout Oath of ?I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law, (which begins) to help other people at all times.? Guy served his country for 6 years in the Air Force Reserves.
He had many hobbies and one of his passions was participating in parades and car shows. He loved driving his ?57 black Ford retractable ? Blackie. Guy enjoyed telling jokes, working in the garden, collecting antiques, fishing, arrowhead hunting and dancing to ?50?s music. Anyone who ever met Guy could testify of his unique appeal and how he was a born salesman. He worked in sales his entire career and made many life long friends.
Guy married Vickie A. Fisher September 5, 1970, and made their home in Freeman. They had two children, Brooke Erin Brown, Miami, Fl., and Guy Crissman Brown, Columbia, Missouri.
Guy was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Irene (Crissman) Brown, father, John Milton Brown, brother, Jimmie Dan Brown, and his son Mark Abraham.
He is survived by his daughter, Brooke, his son, Criss, brother Cleve C. Brown, Freeman, nephew Kyle C. Brown, Overland Park, Ks., cousins and dear friends, Rob, Paul, Tom, Jim, and Tracy, who have loyally been by his side.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial at the Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Freeman Baptist Church or to the Freeman Scout Troop #256.
