Hazel Deane Eckert was born on September 15, 1922, the youngest daughter of Alfred Bell and Elsie May (Rhodes) Bell, in Archie. She departed this life on Thursday, May 9, 2019.
Hazel married Frank Eckert in 1960. They brought five children to this union, and would later add two more. They were happily married for 40 years, when Frank passed away.
Hazel worked in various food service positions before becoming Cafeteria Manager for Butler School district. She volunteered for many years as a Girl Scout leader and spent endless hours facilitating meetings and badge work, and organizing hikes and campouts. She regularly attended the Assembly of God Church in Butler where she accepted Christ as her personal savior.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Eckert, two sons, Rick Cantrell, Sr. And Terry Cantrell, daughter, Carlene Green, and a grandson, Tony Green.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Cummings and husband, Ron of Harrisonville, and Sandy Briggs and husband Mike of Adrian; a daughter-in-law, Judy Cantrell of Harrisonville; two stepdaughters, Joan Hartley of Butler, and Joyce Cox and husband Frank of Baytown, Texas; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral service were held Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, Missouri.
The family received friends Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at the funeral home.
