Henry Kistler Leyh of Freeman, Missouri was born April 25, 1930 in Essex, Maryland the son of Lawrence D. and Ruth Hamilton (Kistler) Leyh. He departed this life on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at his home near Freeman surrounded by love and family at the age of 81 years, 7 months and 21 days.
On February 5, 1955 Henry was united in marriage to Mary Ann Ellsworth in Chillum, Maryland.
Henry was employed as the head radio engineer for WGMS Radio Station in Washington, D.C. until his retirement in 1993. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Henry’s passion was being a ham radio operator, he also was a licensed pilot and enjoyed mowing. Henry had lived in Ijamsville, Maryland before moving to Freeman in 1994.
Besides his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his son, William Robert Leyh on May 17, 1991; three brothers, Larry, John and Ritchie; a sister, Thelma.
Henry is survived by his wife, Mary Leyh of the home; three daughters, Sharon Browning, Kansas City, Missouri, Cheryl Leyh and Melissa White and husband, Dennis all of Freeman, Missouri; five grandchildren, Shannon, Brandon, Ashleigh, Kelsey and Shane; a brother, Fred Leyh, Laurel, Maryland; four sisters, Ruth Grosskurth, Berwyn Heights, Maryland, Margaret Wagner, Jacksonville, Florida, Ann Oneto, Ellicott City, Maryland, Eileen Casto, Hagerstown, Maryland; other relatives and a host of friends.
Private family services are scheduled.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimers Association, American Veterans Association or to the Village Hospice.
