Herbert James Newell

Herbert James “Herbie” Newell, 39, Garden City resident, died Monday, July 30, 2018 at Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence. Herbie was born April 12, 1979 in Maywood, Illinois and had been a resident of Garden City since 2008 coming from Edgewater, FL where he had resided for 19 years.

Herbie was a graduate of New Smyrna Beach, FL High School and enjoyed working as an assembler at the Workshop in DeLand, FL.

Survivors include his parents, Gary S. and Judy Johnson Newell; one sister, Jennifer (Matt) Smith; nephew, Nicholas Smith and Niece, Emma Smith, all of Garden City.

Funeral service were held Monday, August 6, 2018 at Dudley Edgewater Funeral Chapel, 433 N. Ridgewood Ave., Edgewater with Pastor Tim McCardel of Friendship Community Church, Edgewater, officiating. Entombment followed in Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery Mausoleum, Edgewater.

Visitation was held Monday, August 6, 2018 at the Dudley Funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity of choice.
