Homer Dean Hatfield, of Garden City, Missouri, was born March 26, 1928 in Dallas County, Missouri, the son of Homer E. and Maple Lora (Looney) Hatfield. He departed this life Thursday, April 19, 2007, at the home of his daughter in Harrisonville, Missouri, at the age of 79 years and 23 days.
On February 14, 1950, Dean was united in marriage to Ethelee Irene Vaughn in Neosho, Missouri.
Dean was employed as a laborer for McKee Quarries, Greenwood, Missouri until his retirement in 1990. Later he worked for Country Creek Golf Course, Pleasant Hill, Missouri. He was an Army veteran. Dean was a member of the First Baptist Church, Buffalo, Missouri, VFW Post #4409, Harrisonville and the American Legion Post #498, Garden City. He had lived at Garden City since 1948.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethelee on July 30, 1974; two brothers, George and Howard Hatfield; one sister, Lora Lett.
He is survived by one son, Carl D. Hatfield and wife Peggy, Garden City, Missouri; one daughter, Betty Brown, Harrisonville, Missouri; four granddaughters, Kayce, Jenny, Lindsey and Rebekkah; four great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held, Sunday, April 22, 2007 at Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with interment in the Garden City, Missouri Cemetery.
Family suggests contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans or to Amy's Loving Care, Warrensburg, Missouri and may be left at the funeral home.
