Hugh Ostrander

Hugh R. Ostrander, Sr., 91, of Kansas City, Missouri, was born, September 8, 1928, in Kansas City, the son of William G. and Martha A. (Koehler) Ostrander. He departed this life, Friday, May 8, 2020, at the St. Luke’s East Hospital, Lee’s Summit.

Hugh was a 1946 Redemptorist Catholic High School graduate and a United States Marine Corps Korean War Veteran.

On July 4, 1959, he was united in marriage to Mary D. Rhea at the Redemptorist Catholic Church in Kansas City.

Hugh owned and operated the Grand Vending Company in Kansas City. He was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, Council #8334. He enjoyed going to the boats, traveling, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Hugh was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, James Ostrander, Bill Ostrander, and Joseph Ostrander.

He is survived by his wife, Mary of Kansas City; four children, Mary (and Jeff) Puffett of Kansas City, Kathleen Parker of Lee’s Summit, Bud (and Cyndi) Ostrander of Kansas City, and Tim (and Mary Theresa) Ostrander of Lee’s Summit; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, May 14, 2020, at the St. Bridget Catholic Church, 2103 Lexington Rd., Pleasant Hill, Missouri 64080. Reverend Mike Clary officiate. Burial is in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kansas City.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Holy Spirit Catholic Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
