Iva Joe Elvie Dyess was born July 27, 1933 in Tulsa, Oklahoma the daughter of Hobson and Mary (Moseley) Dyess. She accepted christ and was baptized into full membership at White City Baptist Church in Tusla. Her family was charter members and Hobson a plasterer, and hod carrier by trade helped build the church in 1940. She peacefully went to be with the Lord Sunday morning, February 18, 2024 at home in Blue Springs, Missouri at the age of 90.


On December 16, 1951, Iva Joe was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Darrel Turner on his 20th birthday shortly after they both graduated from Vale High School, Vale Oregon from this union they had four beautiful daughters Deborah Joe, Nancy Jane, Lucy Lynn and Doris Amy. 


Iva Joe was an accomplished seamstress, pianist and artist. In 1963 her and Darrel opened Tidy Cleaners in Grandview, Missouri. She later worked downtown Kansas City taking great pride in mending and altering uniforms for the Kansas City A’s and KC police force. Moving west to join Lee Daniels she settled in Elk Grove, California where they raised her daughter Amy. In 1981 Iva Joe moved to Coos Bay, Oregon, married Myron Rencehausen and built Sunshine Alterations and Art near the Pacific Ocean which she loved so dearly. Eight years later Iva Joe returned to California to be near Lucy, and Amy. She opened “Wedding Gowns to Blue Jeans”.


She retired in Lee’s Summit, Missouri at age 62 to enjoy spending time with her grandchildren! Then sewing for fun she made costumes for Starlight productions including The Wizard of Oz and Joseph’s Coat of Many Colors. 


Iva Joe loved being with people, music, singing in the choir, ballroom dancing, square dancing, photography, painting, sewing, dollmaking, and traveling. Her travels took her to over 18 countries including four missionary trips. She had 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.


Besides her parents, Iva Joe was preceded in death by her brother, Otto Donald Dyess, granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Lloyd, daughter Lucy Lynn Turner, husband Darrel Turner, daughter Deborah Joe Turner-Lujan, and husband Myron Rencehausen.


Come celebrate her life with us at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Church of the Nazarene, Harrisonville, Missouri. Family Graveside Burial with internment will be at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Tulsa, Oklahoma. 


Family and friends are welcome to visit from 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Church of the Nazarene, Harrisonville, Missouri.
