Jake was born March 31st,1983, the first son of Leslie and Jennie Whiteside. Jake’s childhood was filled with energy, creativity, and a love of nature.  He had a passion for fishing, dancing, and tearing stuff up to see how it worked.  He attended Archie High School and Building Trades at Cass Career Center. He graduated in 2002 and was given a national recognition award for his service to others.   Jake grew up in Cub and Boy Scouts and pulled the rest of the family into a Scouting life. He earned his Eagle Scout in 2000 and was well known in the Scouting District for his creative problem solving. This ability affected his career choice, and after attaining many skills, he formed his own business “Whiteside Remodeling” which he maintained for 11 years, and later became a journeyman carpenter.

Jake had a strong desire to “help others at all times”.  He was outgoing, sensitive, and was not afraid to jump in and help anyone. He was a team leader in “New York Says Thank You” which was founded after 9-11. This foundation was formed to help people in need and rebuild after tornado/disaster areas across the nation.  He also helped rebuild after the Joplin tornado.
