James Albert Spies, 86, of Strasburg, Missouri, was born, April 20, 1932, in Hays, Kansas, the son of Jacob J. and Anna C. (Brungardt) Spies. He departed this life, Friday, October 19, 2018, at his home.
Jim was a United States Army and Naval Reserve veteran.
James is survived by his son, Richard Rickleman of Florissant, Missouri; 4 brothers, Clarence “Chuck” Spies of Seattle, Washington, Wilford “Will” (and Opal) Spies of Parkville, Missouri, J. Robert (and Marilyn) Spies of Shawnee Mission, Kansas, Jerald (and Barbara) Spies of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Mary Sheehan of Denver, Colorado, Eleanor “Elly” Ruby of Cleveland, Missouri; Mildred “Milly” Spies of Pensacola, Florida; several grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John Spies.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018, at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Paola, Kansas.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
