James Curd

James Fredrik ""Jim"" Curd, age 60, died suddenly at his home on October 16, 2006 in Benton County, Missouri. He was born January 23, 1946 in Springfield, Missouri, the son of James Harvey and Else J. (Wissing) Curd. Jim moved to Harrisonville in March of 1946 and graduated from Harrisonville High School in 1964. He attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri.
On October 3, 1966, Jim enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served as a Corpsman. He received an honorable discharge in 1970 with the rank of USNHM2 and earned a National Defense Medal.
On July 15, 1988, Jim was united in marriage to Janet Kristina Elmore in Monterey, California. He moved to Benton County, Missouri in 1994. He was a long time member of the Benton County Stream Team, dedicated to the Conservation of Missouri Streams.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Harvey Curd on March 2, 1998.
He is survived by his wife, Janet K. Curd of the home; his mother, Else J. Curd; two sisters, Sally Tracey and husband Tony; Peggy Gaede and husband Dan; three nieces; other relatives and many friends.
Cremation. A memorial service was held Friday, October 20, 2006 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Missouri Department of Conservation.
