James Matthew Clarke, 51, of Pleasant Hill, was born, January 5, 1969, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Gary E. and Barbara Jo (Roworth) Clarke. He departed this life Friday, January 31, 2020, at the KU Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas, surrounded with love and family.

Jim was a 1987 Truman High School graduate.

On November 2, 1991, he was united in marriage to Sherri K. Glentzer in Independence.

Jim was the Senior Vice-President of Temp-Con in Olathe. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Pleasant Hill and the Strasburg Baptist Church. He enjoyed working on cars, riding his Harley and ATV, deer and turkey hunting, trap shooting, and spending time on his uncle’s farm in Ava.

He is survived by his wife Sherri of Pleasant Hill; two son’s Trenton Clarke and Mason Clarke, both of Pleasant Hill; his parents, Gary (and Donna) Clarke of Lee’s Summit, and Barbara (and Rick) Vest of Blue Springs; his brother, John (and Melissa) Clarke of Lee’s Summit; three nephews, Jake Dailey of Auburn, Kansas, and Austin Clarke and Evan Clarke, both of Lee’s Summit; one step-sister, Dawn (and John) Davis of Rochester, Minnesota; two step-brother’s, Gary Paul (and Beth) Robinett of Concord, New Hampshire, and Ricky Vest Jr., of Independence; step-nieces, Anne Davis and Ella Davis, of Rochester; step-nephews, Owen Robinett and Eli Robinett, also of Concord; his in-laws, Bob and Jan Glentzer, of Pleasant Hill; sister and brother-in-law, Terri and Max McConnell of Pleasant Hill; nieces Harlow McConnell and Wrenly McConnell, both of Pleasant Hill; other relatives and friends.

Visitation were held Friday, February 7, 2020, at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 8, 2020, at the funeral home. Pastor Wyatt Shanks will officiate. Interment is in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers are Shane Bradley, Evan Clarke, John Clarke, Mason Clarke, Trenton Clarke, Jacob Dailey, Max McConnell, and Vince Turley. Honorary casket bearers are Gary Clarke, Bob Glentzer, Roy Roworth, and Rick Vest, Sr.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
