Janice “Jan” Christine Sims, of Peculiar, Missouri was born January 8, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of Fred and Naydean (Stone) Palmer. She departed this life on Monday, March 28, 2016 at the Meadow View Health and Rehabilitation, Harrisonville, Missouri surrounded by love and family at the age of 69 years, 2 months and 20 days.
On September 3, 1976, Jan was united in marriage to James David Sims in Miami, Oklahoma.
Jan was employed as an Administrative Assistant at Marion Laboratories, Kansas City, Missouri for 17 years. She was a Christian and was baptized on March 2, 1958. Jan was a graduate of Cosmetology School. She enjoyed spending time at the lake cabin, boating, fishing and was a very good water skier. Jan also enjoyed watching NASCAR and dirt track racing, riding motorcycles and taking the 57 Chevy to car shows. Jan’s greatest love was her kids and grandkids and going to their sporting events. She was a huge Elvis fan and enjoyed watching the Royals and the Chiefs.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Jan is survived by her husband, Dave Sims of the home; 4 children, Kerry Goff and husband Dan, Louisburg, Kansas, Kristy Rotramel and husband Weldon, Brighton, Missouri, Vick Sims and wife Debbie, Krystal Parvin and husband Carl “Boo” all of Peculiar, Missouri; 11 grandchildren, Ashlee, Andrew, Justin, Jeremy, Anthony, Aaron, Taylor, Skyler, Ayden, Zayne, and Carl “Elmo”; 2 great-grandchildren; a sister, Patti Hardin and husband John, Blue Springs, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
A celebration of Life Service was held Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri. Cremation.
The family received friends Saturday, April 2, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to Serenity Care Hospice or to the Alzheimer's Association.
