Jarrott Charles Eichenberger

J.C. Eichenberger lived a full and meaningful life in his roles as a Christian, husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend.  His time on Earth was largely spent loving on other people.

Jarrott Charles Eichenberger was born on May 25, 1985, in Lawrence, Kansas, the third child to Bob and Berta Eichenberger.  He was the only brother to three sisters.  He lived, learned, and grew on his family farm in Pomona, Kansas, until he was a young adult.  His early education included Appanoose Grade School, homeschooling, Ottawa Christian Academy, and graduation from Ottawa High School in 2003.  J.C. attended Johnson County Community College and earned an associate degree in drafting and auto design in 2006.  He went on to earn a bachelor's degree in business management from Emporia State University in 2010.  Burns & McDonnell of Kansas City hired J.C. in 2006, where he continued to work for 18 years.  J.C. was a senior civil designer for Burns & McDonnell at the time of his passing.  From early adulthood, J.C. was passionate about living a life of freedom in Jesus Christ.  He was actively involved in New Life Community Church of Gardner, Kansas, as well as Men's Encounter weekends.  His faith spurred him to many kinds of ministry, using his powerful singing voice, sharing his incredible testimony, offering his physical strength, and giving his time to bless an incredible number of people.  J.C. was heavily involved in his fifth-generation family farm, and loved the land and animals.  He especially loved working on the farm alongside his parents, grandparents, sisters and their husbands, and nieces and nephews.  J.C. loved to travel and had many adventures from coast to coast, usually visiting people dear to him.  J.C. also enjoyed awesome trips to Mexico, Zambia, Israel, South Africa, and Ireland.  For many years, J.C. longed to be a husband and finally married the love of his life, Emily Yoder, on January 21, 2023.  The best year of his life was spent as Emily's husband, pinnacled by their welcoming of Benjamin Charles on January 27, 2024.  J.C.'s dream of being a father was fully realized as he spent a few euphoric weeks enamored with his beautiful son Benjamin.  A brief but brutal battle with cancer sent J.C. to his Savior on March 16, 2024.  He was 38 years old.

J.C. is survived by his wife, Emily Eichenberger, and their infant son Benjamin (Wellsville, Kansas); his parents Bob and Berta Eichenberger (Pomona, Kansas); his grandparents Carl and Donna Eichenberger (Pomona, Kansas); his sisters Lurenda Walter (Keith), Rachel Rhodes (Paul), and Carlsie Boardman (Jono); 21 nieces and nephews; many dear in-laws; numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins; and so many precious friends who J.C. considered "just like family."  J.C. was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bob and Marie Cox.

J.C. will be remembered for his commanding singing voice, which blessed so many people through worship.  Most people who knew J.C. (and many who didn't) were fed by him, as he loved smoking meat, hosting, and being generous.  Many memories of his impersonations, nerdy movie trivia, competitive nature, obsession with dinosaurs, the hunting trips he organized, his mock horror at his sisters, his bossing around his "Minions," or a number of other "J.C. things" will bring joy and laughter to many people for many years to come.  J.C. invested heavily in relationships, touching countless individuals and families.  His greatest desire was to help others discover and live in the freedom of salvation through Jesus.  His life as a Godly man will be his greatest legacy.

Memorials in J.C.'s honor may be sent to the ministry which changed his life, and/or to a fund for his son:

 Memo: Benjamin Eichenberger

We ask you to bless baby Benjamin with memories of his father.  The intention is to compile a book for Benjamin to provide him a sense of his father's personality, love, and faith.  There will be an area available at J.C.'s memorial services for people in attendance to write down memories about J.C. Memories can also be mailed or emailed in the coming weeks. Pictures welcome. Please include your full name and tell Benjamin how you knew his daddy.
