John Joseph Dick, of Latour, Missouri, was born November 17, 1915 in Spearville, Kansas the son of Oswald and Gertrude (Danler) Dick. He departed this life on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at his home at the age of 95 years, 6 months and 2 days.
On October 21, 1941, John was united in marriage to Charlotte Virginia May in Spearville, Kansas.
John was a farmer and was also employed with Fairmont Foods, Dodge City, Kansas. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Urich, Missouri. John loved to fish, hunt, garden and being in the outdoors. He had lived in Dodge City, Kansas before moving to Urich with his granddaughter, Connie and her family in 1995. John enjoyed living in Missouri because of the beautiful trees, wonderful scenery and to be closer to his family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Dick on January 9, 1976; a granddaughter, Rose Marie Gudenkauf; two brothers, Jerome and Robert Dick; three sisters, Loretta Burkhart, Marie Nau and Gertrude Dick.
John is survived by a son, John J. Dick Jr., Springfield, Missouri; a daughter, Mary Gudenkauf and husband Richard, Harrisonville, Missouri; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Urich, Missouri.
Graveside service were held Thursday, May 26, 2011 at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City, Kansas.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Crossroads Hospice.
