Joy Lynn Ford, 64, of Lees Summit, MO, was an extraordinary joy to those who knew her. She owned a spirited spice, making her one unforgettable woman. She passed away peacefully the morning of July 9, 2016 at Saint Lukes Hospice House surrounded by her husband and two daughters, after a brief, yet powerful struggle with cancer.
Joy was born July 8, 1952, in Clinton, MO, the daughter of William Bill and Lela Campbell. She grew up in Ballard, MO where she met her best friend, Agnes Foster, of 57 years. Joy pursued a fulfilling career as a hairdresser for 28 years after graduating from House of Heavilin Beauty School in 1977.
On February 19, 1975 she married her husband, Fred, where 41 years later their love continued to illuminate. Joy often said her purpose in life was to be a mother. She loved her daughters and grandchildren with an unconditional selfless love. She treasured spending quality time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Fred L. Ford of Lees Summit; two daughters, Brooke Johnson (Lee Graham) and Dana (Amy) Wiseman-Ford of Lees Summit; two grandchildren, Reese and Orlando; her sister Marilyn (Gary) Sloan of Urich; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Lela and William Campbell; sister, Delores Jean, and infant brother Billy Dean.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 13, 2016 with visitation on Tuesday, July 12th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Dickey Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. Burial will be at the Urich Cemetery in Urich, MO.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Lukes Hospice House in care of the Saint Lukes Hospice Foundation (4225 Baltimore Ave., Kansas City, MO 64111).
The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring amount of love, prayers, and support received.
