Julia Anne (Elliott) Blanchard (Julie) went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 12:28 PM, surrounded by her family and her dearest friend, at Methodist Hospital in Houston.
Julie was born on May 7, 1960, to Charles and Iona Elliott of Garden City, Missouri – she was the second of four children. In 1982, Julie moved to Houston to pursue her dreams. Shortly after arriving, she began attending Westminster Methodist Church where she met and later married the love of her life Randy Blanchard. Together they raised three fantastic sons – Ethan, Andrew and Alec, who were all by her side in her final days. Nothing brought her more joy than being with her boys and her two grandchildren, Wyatt and Ellie.
Julie was known for her warm and caring personality. At work, at church, in her gardening club and anywhere else that she happened to be, she was always outgoing and friendly and made everyone in her presence feel like they belonged. When she focused on a task or a project – look out. It was going to be done, and done in an excellent way. Some would call her obsessive or a perfectionist; both true, but only with the best of intentions and the highest expectations.
In that light, we are planning a spectacular celebration of her life and her legacy on Friday, June 20th at Grace Community Church, 1021 Campbell Road, Houston, TX 77055, beginning at 4PM. There is no good way to describe what Julie did as a staff member at Grace for the past two decades. She was the hub around which so many activities revolved. So many people relied on her for information and direction, but most of all, for her loving touch and her attention to detail that most people would never think of doing.
Julie was preceded to Heaven by her mother, father, and many dear friends through the years. She longed for the rapture of the church and to be in the presence of God, and now her longing has become a reality. She is survived by her husband and friend of 39 years - Randy Blanchard, and by her children: Ethan (Katrina) Blanchard with grandchildren Wyatt and Ellie (Pittsburgh, PA); Andrew (Cydnee) Blanchard (Fremont, CA); and Alec Blanchard (Houston, TX). She is also survived by her siblings: Jeff (Lindy) Elliott (Lee’s Summit, MO) – Jace Elliott and Jesse Elliott; Jeanie (David) Cook (Lee’s Summit, MO) – Allison (Kit) Anderson, Abbie Cook and Ashlyn Cook; Jerry (Pauline) Elliott (Lee’s Summit, MO) – Amanda (Bryant) Carter, Austin Breed, Alec Breed, Carson Elliott and Camryn Elliott.
Flowers and live (outdoor) plants may be sent to the Church. Donations in her honor may be made to Grace Community Church – Julie fund. The fund will be used to commemorate her life by establishing a Julie Garden, and in other ways. The family would also like to acknowledge the wonderful nurses and staff at Houston Methodist Hospital, and those with Life Gift - Houston who have made it possible for her to impact the lives of others – even in her passing!
