Kathleen Allen, 91, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Friday, October 2, 2015 at a local healthcare facility.
She was born October 12, 1923 in a farmhouse in Austin Township of Cass County, Missouri.
Kathleen married G.M. Allen on December 7, 1947. He preceded her in death on January 13, 1999.
Although her major role has been that of homemaker, wife and mother, Kathleen has also distinguished herself by the outstanding service and leadership she has provided as Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and as Mother Advisor of the Rainbow Girls. She also served as Den Mother of the Cub Scouts and as a parent leader of the Brownies. She was also a member of the Foxy Lady Chapter of the Red Hat Society. She volunteered as a docent at the Missouri Governor’s Mansion.
Kathleen was a lifelong democrat and worked tirelessly for the Cass County Democrat Club. In 1988, she was invited to the Democrat National Convention in Atlanta, Georgia.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Carrie (Bowman) Clement; and her brother, Nelson Clement.
Survivors include three children, Nelson Allen (Mollie), St. Joseph, Missouri, Linda Kay Dickey (Bill), Harrisonville, Missouri and Trudy Matarese (Robert), Avon, Colorado; grandchildren, Kevin Montgomery (Karla), William Dickey and Kathleen Matarese; and great-grandson, Spencer Montgomery.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the United Methodist Church of Harrisonville, 2600 East Mechanic Street, Harrisonville, Missouri. Interment Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, Missouri.
Local arrangements are under the direction of Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
