Kelsey O. Goss

Kelsey Goss was born on April 8, 1946 in Hood River, Oregon to Odie and Mildred Goss. He passed away at home on November 29, 2025 with his wife by his side. Kelsey grew up in Parkdale/Mt. Hood, Oregon. He moved to the Kansas City area in 1969. He worked for Monmac Construction Co., Bohnert Construction Co. and J & R Construction Co. before opening his own company, Goss Contracting Company, Inc. in 2000. He met his wife, Roylene (Tays) Goss in October 1979 and married a year later.

Kelsey was an avid outdoorsman that not only enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening but also was an artist at doing pencil drawings, leatherwork, wood carving and woodburning and was a perfectionist at everything he did. He also enjoyed horses and trail riding in several states especially in South Dakota. Another hobby he enjoyed was restoring older vehicles. He restored and a 1937 Ford Sedan, a 1953 Ford Victoria and a 1966 Ford Bronco. He thoroughly enjoyed driving his 1965 Cobra and the 2004 Corvette. He was like a teenager when behind the wheel of those faster cars. A few years before closing his company and retiring in 2012, he found enjoyment in the sun & sand, vacationing in Florida, Cancun & Belize.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Eleanor Rice-Burdick, Earlene Short, Gilbert “Buck” Goss, Delbert “Bert” Goss, Gayla Harnar and brother-in-law Bill Tays.

He is survived by his wife, Roylene of 45 years, three sons, Jade (Charity) Goss, Derek Goss and Brandon Goss, grandson Landon Goss, great grandson Elijah Goss, siblings Carol DeWalt and Phillip Goss, sisters-in-law Carol Goss and Leona Goss as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.

The family would like to thank everyone at Hospice by John Knox Village, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, for all the support and knowledge that was given to us during Kelsey’s illness.

To honor Kelsey’s wishes, no service will be scheduled. He will be inurned privately in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.
