Kendelyn “Kendy” Marie Kinion, age 74, of Holden, Missouri, departed this life on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
She was born on January 1, 1952, in Antigo, Wisconsin, to Kenneth and Doris Johnson. On March 14, 1980 she was united in marriage to Russell Kinion in Sand Springs, Oklahoma.
Kendy worked as a records clerk at the Bank of Oklahoma taking care of their Ginnie Mae and Freddie Mac accounts for many years. She also worked for a number of years as a teller at the Sand Springs State Bank in Oklahoma before moving to Missouri in 1988. Outside of work, she found great joy in gardening, cooking, canning, making up cookbooks and spending time with those she loved most. Kendy always had an extreme passion for flowers. Not only did she have them all over their property, but she also had many flowers in the house. She was always happiest when she was on her knees in the dirt planting or arranging flowers. Irises were always her favorite because of their vast variety. She had irises in flower beds all around their property and had even planted some in the woods behind the house. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, loved all her Red Hat sisters and thoroughly enjoyed the meetings, luncheons and trips they made. She especially treasured her family and the many memories they created together through the years.
She is survived by her loving husband, Russell Kinion of Holden, Missouri; her children, Robert Christian Kinion and wife, Myriam, of Germany; Kristy Lynn Phoenix and husband, David, of Centerview, Missouri; and Matthew Bryan Kinion of Pierceton, Indiana; 16 beloved grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter-in-law, Miranda Kinion. She will be remembered for her caring heart, love of family, and the joy she found in life’s simple pleasures.
Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Cremation with a celebration of life service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Freedom Point Church, Garden City, Missouri.
