Kevin Robert Gillespie of Harrisonville, Missouri was born June 12, 1972 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Frederick Robert Gillespie and Rebecca Helen (Chrisman) Tally. He departed this life Friday, November 10, 2006, Research Medical Center, Kansas City at the age of 34 years, 4 months and 28 days.
On October 17, 2001, Kevin was united in marriage to Lisa Marie Sechrest in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
Kevin was an officer for the Olathe Police Department, Olathe, Kansas since June of 2006. Earlier, he had been a detective for the Grandview Police Department, Grandview, Missouri from 2001 until June of 2006 as well as a member of the Metro Squad, the SWAT Team, Cass County Sheriff's Department and a Reserve Officer of the Harrisonville Police Department. Kevin was a member of Fraternal Order of Police. He was a 1990 graduate of the Harrisonville High School and a 2000 graduate of Central Missouri State University with a degree in Criminal Justice. Kevin was a dedicated husband and father who loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Gillespie; a son, Brayden and two daughters, Delaynie and Katelyn all of the home; his father and step-mother, Robert and Anne Gillespie, Kansas City, Missouri; his mother and step-father, Becky and Bill Tally, Peculiar, Missouri; three sisters, Amy Wright, Belton, Missouri, Sara Turk, Lee's Summit, Missouri, Laura Beth Hawkins, Harrisonville, Missouri; his paternal grandmother, Margaret Gillespie, Harrisonville, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at the United Methodist Church, Harrisonville with burial in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Estate of Kevin Gillespie c/o Commerce Bank.
