Mrs. Lela Marie Tyler, of Harrisonville, Missouri, departed this life Thursday, November 3, 2005 at home surrounded by her loving family. Lela was born in Harrisonville on March 13, 1938. She graduated from Harrisonville High School. Lela met her husband, Ivan Wendell Tyler, in Harrisonville and they were married in Greenville, Tennessee on October 28, 1954. The two honeymooned in the Great Smokey Mountains and the marriage produced two children.
She went on to work in various states across the country, most notably, Columbus, Ohio, where she made many lifelong friends. Lela had a special fondness for Ohio as this was the birthplace of both of her children. Lela was a devoted wife and mother. She had many interests beyond the home and work place. Most of all, she loved to travel, had a great love of adventure and was never afraid to try and do new things. She traveled abroad and saw most of these United States. She had a special fondness for lighthouses, shopping and grandchildren.
She retired from AT&T in the late 1990's and then resided at the farm in Harrisonville where she was raised. She was preceded in this life by her mother, Irene Hasting Koeller and her father, John Henry Koeller. She leaves behind her husband, Ivan Wendell Tyler of Harrisonville, Missouri; daughter, Brenda Sullivan and son-in-law, Tim Sullivan of Overland Park, Kansas; and son, Verlin Tyler and daughter-in-law, Brenda Tyler of Springfield, Missouri. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Nicole Wallen, Danielle Healy, Jenae Tyler, Marcia Tyler, Stephanie Sullivan and Logan Tyler; two step-grandchildren, Brady and Bryce Collier; as well as too many friends to mention.
Lela will be sorely missed by all but has moved on to a greater place above. Her spunky attitude and adventurous spirit inspired everyone who was fortunate enough to meet her. Heaven will never be the some now that Lela has flung open the Pearly Gates.
