Leota Fay Swayne, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Crown Care Rehab Facility in Harrisonville, Missouri.
Leota was raised in Tyler, Minnesota, before moving to Kansas City, Missouri, during her high school years. She attended Westport High School, where she met the love of her life, Thomas E. Swayne. The couple married in 1960 and began their life together. Thomas's service in the United States Navy took their family to California. In 1972, the family returned to Missouri, settling in Raymore.
Leota was known for her outgoing personality and was often described as a "ball of fire." She loved being social and spending time with her husband, family, and their close group of friends. Leota and Thomas enjoyed attending car shows, airplane shows, going out to eat, and visiting Swap and Shop events. She also enjoyed working out and always encouraged Thomas to stay active alongside her. At home, Leota could often be found cooking in the kitchen while Thomas was downstairs working on airplanes. Together, they shared a wonderful life filled with love, laughter, and lasting friendships.
Leota is survived by her sons, Tim Swayne Sr. and his wife, Melissa, of Camdenton, Missouri, and John Swayne of Raymore, Missouri; her grandchildren, Tim Swayne Jr. and his fiancée, Felicia Green, Laura and Brad Blood, and Matthew and Emily Johnson; and her great-grandchildren, Maxton Garcia, Francesca, Jaxton, Romeo, and Penelope Swayne, Langstynn, Jameson, Hendrix, and William Johnson, and Damon Tate.
Leota was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas E. Swayne, and her parents.
