Lloyd Ray

Lloyd Ray, of Harrisonville, Missouri was born September 15, 1934 in Springfield, Missouri and was one of 18 children born to Homer Garfield and Lola (Gard) Ray.  He departed this life on Saturday, July 1,2023 at the age of 88 years, 9 months and 16 days at his home in Harrisonville, Missouri surrounded by love and family.

On February 1, 1957, Lloyd was united in marriage to Idabelle Devine in Miami, Oklahoma. After being married only 4 months, Lloyd was drafted into the Army and stationed in Korea as a Personnel Specialist due to his typing skills acquired in class at Fair Grove High School.

He was a Deacon and raised his children attending the Victory Baptist Church in Kansas City.  After moving to Harrisonville, Missouri Lloyd and Ida became members of the First Baptist Church.  Lloyd lived as he believed that loving God, his wife and family was always and forever.  His kind soul cared for the love of his life, Ida thru many years of illness without question.

Lloyd played the piano by ear and enjoyed the harvest of his vegetable gardens.  He had great fun on float trips with his family, attending grandkids activities, taking the grandsons to Royals’ games and traveling to the beach on his Birthday to get his feet on the sand.  Lloyd was in charge of the Church Camp Concession Stand every summer for over 10 years.  He always looked forward to the special time he had with his many Brothers and Sisters.

After retiring from Avon Products with 32 years of loyal service, Lloyd worked for Marion Labs for 10 years.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Ida Ray, grandson, David Jeffrey Ray, 8 brothers and 3 sisters.
