Velma Louise (Yadon) Campbell, 88, lifelong resident of Pleasant Hill, was born January 15, 1932, in Pleasant Hill, the daughter of William H. and Eunice V. (Whitehead) Yadon. She departed this life, Saturday, July 4, 2020, at her daughter’s home in Harrisonville surrounded with love and family.
Louise was a 1950 Pleasant Hill High School graduate.
In February 1956 she was united in marriage to Floyd William Campbell in Miami Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on October 30, 1999.
Louise was an Inspector for Western Electric/A.T.& T. in Lee’s Summit retiring in 1988. She was a member of the Communication Workers of America Local #6450; the Western Electric Pioneers Club; the Big Creek Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill, and volunteered regularly at the Pleasant Hill Health and Rehab center. She enjoyed crocheting, snow skiing, horseback riding, old country music, family weenie roasts, and anything chocolate. Most importantly she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She and her three sisters often referred to as the “Four Amigo’s” or the “Yadon Sisters” were close all of their lives.
Louise was also preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Jenny Bowman and Lena Faye Knox Brannock.
She is survived by one son, Rocky (and Ellen) Campbell of Pleasant Hill; three daughters, Kelly (and Harold) Couch of Pleasant Hill, Rhonda Bowman-Ford of Pleasant Hill, and Cheryl (and Jim) Beckerdite of Harrisonville, seven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; one sister Violet Sue Simmerman of Clinton; other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2020, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Sni-Mills Cemetery, Oak Grove, Missouri. Casket bearers are Chad Campbell, Chance Campbell, Chase Campbell, Randy Couch, Randy Clapp, and Lance Keeran.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasant Hill Lay Clergy Council and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
