Lucy Nadine Ash, 90, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born, October 2, 1923, in Higginsville, Missouri, the daughter of Robert and Daisy (Gunter) Sayers. She departed this life at 3:45 a.m. on Monday, April 28, 2014, at the John Knox Care Center Hospice House.
Lucy was a 1942 Higginsville High School Graduate.
On August 22, 1947, she was united in marriage to George Lloyd Ash in Higginsville. He preceded her in death on September 29, 2003.
Lucy was a homemaker although she did work for Jesters department store in downtown Pleasant Hill for several years. She was an avid quilter and loved to square dance. She was a member of the Piece Makers Quilters Guild and the Harpers Hoppers Square Dance Club.
Lucy was also preceded in death by three sisters Dorothy Winfrey, Betty Myers, and Nancy Cantrell.
She is survived by her daughter Linda (and Bill) Hammontree-Kanai of Pleasant Hill; two grandchildren Wheeler (and Kristin) Hammontree of Ft. Mead, Maryland, and Josie (and Ryan) Hermsmeyer of Wildwood, Missouri; two great grandchildren Laurelin Hammontree and Morgan Hermsmeyer; other relatives; and many friends.
Per Lucys wish cremation has been accorded with no services scheduled. Inurnment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasant Hill Meals on Wheels or the OATS bus and maybe sent in care of the funeral home.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
