Mary Jean Teegarden, 93, of Pleasant Hill, was born, June 10, 1926, in Saline County, Missouri, the daughter of Isaac N. and Lilly M. (Dinges) Thomas. She departed this life, Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at the John Knox Village Hospice House surrounded by love and family.
On October 26, 1952, she was united in marriage to Donald Dean Teegarden in Kansas City, Missouri. He preceded her in death on October 31, 2009.
Jean was employed as a Dental Assistant; later becoming a full time Homemaker. She was an active member of the Big Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing cards, quilting, working crossword puzzles and going out to eat with family and friends.
Jean was also preceded in death by her parents and five siblings, Harold Thomas, Bessie Gulick, Lonnie Thomas, Elva Packard, and Jacob Thomas.
She is survived by three daughters, Denise (and Rick) White, and Linda (and David) Day both of Lee’s Summit, and Anita (and Michael) Bleich of Leawood; six grandchildren, Jennifer (and Andrew) Truman, and Alyson (and Jesse) James both of Leawood, Jeremy (and Robin) Beach of Shawnee, Michelle (and Gus) Volkmer of Blue Springs, Tamara (and Tim) Atwell of Lee’s Summit, and Jacob Bagby (and Abboud ) of Lenexa; eight great grandchildren, Jackson, Garrison, Grady, Timothy, Levi, Caiden, Samuel, and Lochlyn; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Friday, January 31, 2020, at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 1, 2020, at the funeral home. Her nephews Col. Michael Thomas and Mr. Ronnie Bush will officiate. Memories will be be shared by her grandchildren, Tamara Atwell, Jacob Bagby, and Jennifer Truman. Music will be rendered by Mrs. Treena Wilt. Interment is in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers are Tim Atwell, Jacob Bagby, Jeremy Beach, Jesse James, Andrew Truman, and Gus Volkmer. Honorary casket bearers are Michael Bleich, David Day, Rick White, Caiden Atwell, Levi Atwell, Samuel Atwell, Timothy Atwell, Jackson Truman, Garrison Volkmer, and Grady Volkmer.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
