Marvin Dean Harris of Montrose, Missouri was born on September 15, 1936, the son of Herschel Harris and Eula Mae (Hunt) Harris New in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, He departed this life surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at his home in Montrose.
On July 23, 1955, Dean was united in marriage to Frankie Delores Leuty in Garden City, Missouri.
Dean grew up with a hammer in his hand and a heart full of kindness. For over 50 years, he worked as a skilled carpenter, crafting everything from sturdy homes, cooling towers to the grandchildren's playhouses. His work was more than a trade, it was a lifestyle and he hummed the whole time he was working. He worked for Marley Cooling towers and was given the opportunity to travel to Hawaii as well as England.
After retirement, he devoted himself to watching old westerns and listening to country music (the oldie kind to him, the real country music). Dean found his greatest joy in spending time with his family, attending grandchildren's events from sports to school programs. They were the center of his world. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his devotion to family and the kindness he shared with those around him.
Besides his parents Dean was preceded in death by his brother, Willie Harris, two sons, Jimmie Harris and Daniel Harris. One grandchild, Derrick Harris and one great grandchild, Bryson.
He is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Frankie Delores (Leuty) and his two daughters, Rhonda Hernandez (David) of East Lynne, Missouri Janet Milburn of Urich, Missouri and one son, Frankie Harris, Montrose, Missouri. He has 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren with one on the way and other relatives and a host of friends.
