Mary Catherine "Cathy" Morris
July 11, 1965 — June 2, 2021
Mary Catherine “Cathy” Morris, age 55, passed away peacefully in Raymore, Missouri on Wednesday, June 2, 2021. Born in Doylestown, Pennsylvania on July 11, 1965, she was the daughter of the late Charles William Morris and Mary Hazel Morris. She was also preceded in death by her son, Michael Ray Radford; her sisters, Robin Michelle Manning and Anna Marie Joyner.
Cathy was also affectionately known as Mom, Granny, Aunt Cathy, or Mary C. Cathy was a wonderful devoted mother to her 4 children, David, Michael (Shonda), Alexis (Allen), and Matthew. She was a loving Granny to Ariel, Michael, Madison, Serenity, Ava, Aubrielle, Xzaviar, Gunner, Gage, Mari, Colten, Great-Granny to Ariana and the Very Best Aunt Ever to numerous nieces and nephews. She traveled a lot with her military family until they settled in the Tarboro/Rocky Mount, NC area, where she lived for many years before eventually moving westward to Raymore, Missouri in 2021 to be near her brother and his family. She spent many years at Autozone, where she was well known and admired. She led by example. There was never a job too large or too small that she would not tackle, for her family or her many friends. Cathy was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman. She will be missed every day.
Cathy in addition to her children, grandchildren and mother is also survived by her sister, Constance J. McAuliffe of Rocky Mount; her brothers, William D. Morris of Rocky Mount and C. David Morris and his wife, Kimberly, also her very best friend, of Raymore, Missouri; many nieces and nephews; and special friends of many years, Mildred Bales and children, Calvin Cherry and Michael Ray Radford, Sr.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Pineview Cemetery, Pinetops, NC.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the family is requesting the need for social distancing and wearing of masks due to health concerns faced around our nation at this time.
The family would like to say a special thanks to the wonderful doctors, nurses and aides at Crossroads Hospice and St. Joseph Health Center, both of Kansas City, MO and to UNC Nash Danny Talbott Cancer Center, who provided invaluable care to Cathy for many years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Cathy’s memory to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
