Mae Ring 82 of Harrisonville, Missouri departed this life on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Vitas Hospice, Kansas City, Missouri surrounded by love and family.
Mae was born in Placentia, Newfoundland and immigrated to the United States by way of Boston, MA in 1950. In her early life, she was an avid country music singer and performer. Her love for country music and singing continued throughout her life. Mae worked at Anaconda Wire and Cable/Ericsson in Harrisonville, MO and at Cass Medical Center in housekeeping. After retirement, she volunteered at Cass Medical Center for many years up until her death. Mae was devoted to her Catholic faith, the Blessed Mother, and was a long-time member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Harrisonville, MO.
Mae was preceded in death by her son Kenny Ring of Harrisonville, MO, her parents Charles and Mary Collins, sisters Kathryn, Celine, Eleanor of Placentia, Newfoundland, Kathleen of Williamsburg, VA, brothers Kevin, Tony, Peter of Placentia, Newfoundland.
She was survived by 7 children; Donna Overcast of Harrisonville, Missouri, Edward Ring and his wife Carol of Harrisonville, Missouri, David Ring and his wife Cindy of Harrisonville, Missouri, Darryl Ring and his wife Karla of Dallas, Texas, Lori Hurst and her husband Roger of Harrisonville, Missouri, Charlie Ring and his wife Jennifer of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Don Ring and his fiance Karina Perlas of Lee's Summit, Missouri; one brother, Charles Collins of Boston, Massachusetts; three sisters, Leone Hall, Agnes Collins and Alice O'Keefe all of Newfoundland and Labrador; nineteen grandchildren, Richard, Kevin, Misty, Kara, Tyler, Bryan, Kayla, Kolette, Kristen, Kelsey, Kimberly, Katie, Daniel, Jake, Samantha, Justin, Nick, Emily, Hali; eleven great grandchildren, Gillian, Brenna, Addison, Everlee, Kenneth, Jordan, Alyssa, Taylor, McKenzie, Harlow, Jane; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville, Missouri. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Harrisonville, MO.
The family received friends Monday, April 21, 2014 with rosary at 8:00 p.m. at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
The Family would like to thank Research Medical Center of Kansas City, MO and Cass Medical Center Rehab unit of Harrisonville, MO for treating our mother and her children like family.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Our Lady of Lourdes Building Fund or to the Mary Knoll Missions.
