Mildred Darlene Cherry of Merwin, Missouri was born July 4, 1934 in Independence, Missouri the daughter of Gail G. and Genevieve Gayle (Batchelor) Black. She departed this life Friday, September 4, 2009 at her daughter?s home in Clarksville, Tennessee at the age of 75 years and 2 months.
On January 1, 1954, Mildred was united in marriage to Robert Glenn Cherry in Kansas City, Kansas.
Mildred was a homemaker. She was an animal lover and bird watcher and enjoyed tending to her flowers, yard and garden. Mildred spent her free time on her computer, playing games and communicating with family and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Cherry on April 3, 1993; two brothers, Earl G. and Everett E. Black.
She is survived by two sons, Robert G. Cherry Jr. and wife Linda, Peculiar, Missouri, Galen L. Cherry and wife Dora, La Cygne, Kansas; two daughters, Robyne Shumate and husband Keith, Clarksville, Tennessee, Lois Sutton and husband Brian, Archie, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Black and wife Beverly, Merwin, Missouri, George Black and wife Janet, Olathe, Kansas; a sister, Judy Spain and husband Walter, Shelbyville, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Mary Black, Kansas City, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 10, 2009 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri. Burial will be at the West Union Cemetery near Cleveland, Missouri.
