Norma Preston

July 22, 1914 — September 10, 2005

Mrs. Norma J. Preston, of Greenwood, Missouri, was born July 22, 1914 in Ellston, Iowa, the daughter of Lester Bernard and Nian Salome (Fleischer) Hooton. She departed this life Saturday, September 10, 2005 at the John Knox Village Care Center, Lee's Summit, Missouri at the age of 91 years, 1 month and 18 days.
Norma was employed as a Pattern Grader for Gay Gibson, Inc. Leneza, Kansas until her retirement in 1976. She was a member of the Greenwood Christian Church and a former member of the Dayton Community Church, near Garden City, Missouri. Norma enjoyed gardening, sewing, flowers, the outdoors and playing the piano. She had lived in Kansas City, Missouri and the Dayton Community near Garden City before moving to Greenwood in 1999.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Bernard Hooton.
She is survived by one son, Neil Preston and wife Roberta, Lee's Summit, Missouri; one granddaughter, Whitney; two step-grandchildren, Matthew and Tricia; four step-great-grandsons; one brother, Robert Hooton, Ottawa, Kansas; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were Friday, September 16, 2005 at the Dayton Community Church near Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Dayton Cemetery. Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Dayton Community Church Memorial Fund or the Greenwood Christian Church Memorial Fund.
