Obituary for Ret. SSG Michael Wayne Elmore

Yesterday Mike passed away, I came home from work about 4:30 and found him sitting on the couch, tv on, with his head tilted to the right, he was already gone. He looked very relaxed and at peace, there were no signs of trauma, his arms and hands were at ease. As I process this more and more, I am sure his heart stopped. He had been struggling with high blood pressure, he has been short of breath, was raspy when he laced Dow, coughing, and swelling on his legs and ankles.

This is an increasable loss to me, I loved him so deeply, he has been my best friend and world for the past 23 years.

Mike was a very private person, he did not trust many and kept his distance and was quiet, I saw the real Mike who had a heart of gold, who would do anything to help someone in need. He would do that in silence, not to draw attention or receive thanks.

He was no saint, he admitted his faults and worked hard to become a better person everyday.

I will be making a funeral service arrangement today for those who want to come, but please do not feel that you are expected to. It was his request to be cremated and he has a burial right in Higginsville MO at the veterans cemetery.

Please do not send flowers, he would not want that, nor I. If you feel the desire to do something in Mikes memory please consider your local animal shelter, especially a no kill shelter. Mike was very passionate about animals, especially strays, feral and homeless animals. We currently have 4 feral cats we care for as well as our two spoiled ones inside! This will be a big adjustment for Yoda, Mike was her everything! Another option would be The Sheppard Food Pantry here in Harrisonville, MO. Mike was a regular volunteer, ready and willing to help server those in need.

I ask that you keep me in prayer as time moves forward.

Be sure to tell the people you love that you love them every chance you get, you never know when that time will come to an end.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask, Mike and I had a strong loving relationship, I live with no regrets when it comes to him.

I love you all, thanks!
Karen
