Opal Elizabeth Burton of East Lynne, Missouri was born May 6, 1932 in Ash Flat, Arkansas the daughter of Willis Edward and Viola (Spaugh) Wade. She departed this life on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at the Cass Regional Medical Center, Harrisonville at the age of 85 years, 9 months and 8 days.
On December 13, 1969, Opal was united in marriage to Harold G. Burton in Adrian, Missouri.
Opal was a homemaker. She was a Christian lady who loved the Lord and was a member of the Assembly of God, East Lynne, Missouri and attended the First Baptist Church when she lived in Deepwater, Missouri. Opal was a wonderful seamstress and loved to sew, fish, grow flower and a vegetable garden with Harold and can vegetables. She was known as a genuinely happy person and loved everybody.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold G. Burton on June 25, 2008; 5 brothers, Jesse, Kenneth, Alex, Dale and Kennard Wade and a sister, Ruby Weaver.
Opal is survived by her son, Glen Burton, Pleasant Hill, Missouri; two daughters, Gay Dawn Curtis and husband Bill, Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Diane Gregg and husband Billy, East Lynne, Missouri; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Willola Pemberton, Holden, Missouri, Mary Burton, Deepwater, Missouri; a special and dear friend, Jolee Gregg; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville with burial in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.
The family received friends Friday, February 16, 2018 at the funeral home.
