Phillip Eugene Pilcher, 63, of Pleasant Hill, was born, March 10, 1956, in Holden, the son of George William and Mary Edna Daryline (Gatzmeyer) Pilcher. He departed this life, Monday, January 27, 2020, at his sister’s home surrounded with love and family.
Phillip was a 1974 Lone Jack High school graduate and a United States Marine Corps veteran.
On July 20, 1986, he was united in marriage to Debra Lee Herman in Kansas City, Missouri.
Phillip was a Service Rep for Pitney Bowes over 30 years and later project manager for the Aspen Contracting Inc. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Overland Park and had also been very active with the Boy Scouts, and 4-H Clubs. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his children.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Leonard Pilcher.
He is survived by one son, Jason G. Pilcher of Pleasant Hill; two daughters, Darla M. Vescovi of New Britain, Connecticut, and Roseanna L. Pilcher of Lee’s Summit; two grandsons, Nathan Vescovi and Lucas Vescovi, both of New Britain; five sisters, Dorothy Barrow of Grain Valley, Rebecca Pilcher-Maggert, Alyce (and Larry) Kern, Mary (and John) Tucker, and Rita (and Edward Medlock) Pilcher, all of Pleasant Hill; one half-brother, William Pilcher of Barnett, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Thursday, January 30, 2020, at the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church (11901 Pflumm Rd, Overland Park, KS 66213) with the Recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 and a brief memorial service at 7:30. A prayer vigil will be held all night at the church for anyone who wishes to participate.
The Funeral Mass was held Friday, January 31, 2020 at the church. Father Tim Sawchak will officiate. A Eulogy written by his daughter Darla Pilcher Vescovi will be read by Eric Wenger.
Graveside services and interment were held Saturday, February 1, 2020, at the Strasburg Cemetery. Casket bearers are Wesley Harris, Larry Kern, Edward Medlock, Alec Overmann, Chris Overmann, and Jacob Pilcher. Honorary casket bearers are Jason Pilcher, Lucas Vescovi and Nathan Vescovi.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pilcher Family Fund which has been set up at the Lone Jack Branch of F&C Bank, 102 N Bynum Rd, Lone Jack, Missouri, 64070. Memorial contributions may also be sent in care of the funeral home.
