Punkie Neill

August 31, 1947 — September 5, 2019

Martha Ann “Punkie” Neill, 72, of Pleasant Hill was born August 31, 1947 in Pleasant Hill. The daughter of the late Edgar Marion and Dorothy Irene (King) Hatton. She quietly departed this life, Thursday, September 5, 2019 with her husband by her side. She was also preceded in death by three siblings, Ray Hatton, Joyce Wilmoth, and Gary Hatton.

Punkie was a lifelong Pleasant Hill Resident and a 1965 Pleasant Hill High School graduate. At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ at Hickory Grove Baptist Church. She was a current member of Abundant Life Church of Lee’s Summit.

She was united in marriage to Donald Lee Neill in Pleasant Hill on October 21, 1966. This union was blessed with two children.

Punkie was a Bank Teller for the Pleasant Hill Bank for a number of years, and later went to work across the sidewalk for the city of Pleasant Hill at City Hall as City Clerk. She enjoyed seeing and visiting with the residents of Pleasant Hill. She had a generous spirit and pleasant personality. She also enjoyed her part-time job as receptionist for John Knox Village Care Center. As a result of her spirit and personality, she was loved by many.

Her interest early in life included spending her summers coaching girl’s softball. She loved “all day” shopping trips with her children and grandchildren.

She later, at retirement, devoted much of her time to reading and became an avid reader of her bible.

Punkie was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi-Preceptor Epsilon Phi where she developed a wonderful set of “sisters” she loved. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her husband, Donnie of the home; two daughters, Stephanie (and Rick) Pryor of Pleasant Hill, and Angela (and Michael Kear) Neill of Lee’s Summit; one brother, Charles (and Cheryl) Hatton of Pleasant Hill; three grandchildren, Kendra Pryor of Hugoton, Kansas, and Tyler Kear and Tori Kear, both of Lee’s Summit; other relatives and friends.
