Ret. CPO/E7 Allen J. Ring 80 of Garden City, Missouri departed this life on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at his home near Garden City surrounded by love and family.
Allen was born in Evening Shade, Arkansas and graduated from Cave City High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1954 and retired honorably after 20 years as a Chief Petty Officer and Vietnam Veteran in 1975. After retiring from the Navy, Allen moved to Harrisonville, MO. He attended Longview Community College and the University of Central Missouri completing 4 years. Allen owned and operated A.J. Ring & Sons Heating and Cooling for 20 years. He moved to Garden City, MO in 1990 where he lived with his wife Janice until his death. Allen was an exceptional country music singer and performer. From the time he was very young and for 70 years he continued playing the guitar and singing. His love for music was shared with his family and friends. Allen enjoyed hunting, fishing and travel.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kenny Ring.
Allen is survived by his wife Janice Ring of the home; five sons, Edward Ring and his wife Carol of Harrisonville, Missouri, David Ring and his wife Cindy of Harrisonville, Missouri, Darryl Ring and his wife Karla of Dallas, Texas, Charlie Ring and his wife Jennifer of Lee's Summit, Missouri, and Don Ring of Lee's Summit, Missouri; two daughters, Donna Overcast and Lori Hurst and her husband Roger both from Harrisonville, Missouri; a step-daughter, Lesli Dawson and her husband Joe of Garden City, Missouri; nineteen grandchildren; five step grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; three brothers, Donald Ring of Batesville, Arkansas, Willard Ring of Peculiar, Missouri, Chester Ring of Belton, Missouri; a sister, Annetta Carpenter of Red Bluff, California; other relatives and many friends.
Celebration of Life Service was held Monday, April 27, 2015 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
Cremation with inurnment in Oakland Cemetery, Harrisonville, Missouri. Allen will be buried with Military Honors.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Hope for Jordan Overcast Cancer fund.
