Earl David VanSandt, of Harrisonville, Missouri, was born July 13, 1936 in Rogers, Arkansas, the son of Clarence David and Susie Anna Cherokee (Beck) VanSandt. He departed this life Monday, April 16, 2007, Cass Medical Center, Harrisonville at the age of 70 years, 9 months and 3 days.
On October 26, 1977, Earl was united in marriage to Teresita Balce Pichay in Cainta, Rizal.
Earl served in the Military Police as a Private First Class for the United States Army until his retirement on November 17, 1958. He was later employed as a radio broadcaster for several years in Wichita, Kansas. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville, a lifetime member of the DAV Chapter # 50 and the American Legion both of Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Earl enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, watching the Walker TV series on TV and tinkering.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon and a sister, Louise Glass.
He is survived by his wife, Teresita B. VanSandt of the home; two sons, Earl Wayne VanSandt and fiance, Rhonda VanHorn, Harrisonville, Missouri, Michael Dale VanSandt and wife, Tina, Wash, Utah; a daughter, Peggy Widner and husband, Darren, Harrisonville, Missouri; two adopted daughters, Marie Anna Quillen and husband, Bryan, State of Florida, Marie Elizabeth Voe and husband, Kia, Houston, Texas; nine grandchildren; a great grandson; a brother, Glen VanSandt, Little Kansas, Oklahoma; three sisters, Erma Hambly, Spokane, Washington, Jeri Samuelson, Hutchinson, Kansas, Carolyn McFaddin, Colcord, Oklahoma; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services were held 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 20, 2007 at Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville, Mo. with interment in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.
Family suggests contributions may be made to the Ret. PFC Earl D. VanSandt memorial fund and may be left at Dickey Funeral Home.
