Ret. US Air Force TSgt. Sherry L. Morris

Sherry Lynn Morris of Oklahoma City, OK was born in Mishawaka, IN on May 11, 1957, to George and Marlene Blasko. She departed this life on August 21, 2022, in Overland Park, KS at the Menorah Medical Center with loving family by her side.

Sherry lived her first 18 years in the small town of Mishawaka, IN until she graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1975, it was then that she started an exciting career journey in the US Air Force for the next 19 years as an aircraft mechanic. Her experiences included being stationed first at Offutt AFB in Omaha, NE, Rhein-Main AFB in Frankfurt, Germany and finally Andrews AFB in Maryland, where she retired as a Tech Sergeant.  After her retirement from the Air Force, at the age of 37, she moved to Oklahoma City, OK to work for Northrop-Grumman in the global aerospace and defense arena for the next 18 years. The last 3 years of her career she worked for the US Government at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City, in a highly classified position as a Configurations and Data Manager. She was a well-disciplined, natural leader and a strong contributor in her field of expertise throughout her career. She worked on and in the creation of several military planes, including as an aircraft mechanic for the President’s plane as a member of the 89th Airlift Presidents’ Group, while she was stationed at Andrews AFB until her retirement in October of 1994.

Sherry’s greatest love was her son, Derrick Mayoleth, whom she cherished. She had a beautiful smile, an incredibly giving heart and a fun-loving spirit. She was well travelled and had trinkets from all around the world from her adventures. In addition, she never turned down a trip to Las Vegas to meet up with her siblings, whom she loved dearly.  You could also find her dancing, shooting pool, throwing darts or bird watching as those were all hobbies she enjoyed. She fiercely loved her family and friends and will be missed beyond measure.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, who both passed away in the fall of 2011.

Sherry is survived by her son, Derrick Mayoleth (Tara) of Harrisonville, MO, her younger siblings, Deborah Blasko of South Bend, IN, Cathy Martsolf (Ken) of Edwardsburg, MI, Paula Blasko of South Bend, IN, Jeffrey Blasko (Aricia) of Flower Mound, TX and Monica Blank (Kirk) of Granger, IN, her three grandchildren, Piper, Laycie and Devin and many other relatives and close friends.
