Richard Pollard

Richard Winton Pollard, of Garden City, Missouri was born July 22, 1937 in Dayton, Missouri the son of Guy Clifford and Gladys Gordon (Winton) Pollard. He departed this life on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas at the age of 78 years and 15 days.
On January 23, 1999, Richard was united in marriage to Bettie Jean (Anderson) Beason in Harrisonville, Missouri.
Richard was employed as a truck driver for several different companies until his retirement in 2004. He was a member of the Sycamore Grove Mennonite Church, Garden City. Richard loved to spend time with his family especially his step-great-grandchildren. He was known as "pappy" to his family, a "talker" to his friends and enjoyed visiting with people.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Pollard on September 1, 1998.
Richard is survived by his wife, Bettie J. Pollard of the home; a daughter, Debbie Thomas and husband Bob T., Butler, Missouri; a step-daughter, Alice Brunner and husband Bob, Harrisonville, Missouri; 8 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren, Emily and Scott; several great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren, Alexis, Kristopher and Hailey; a sister, Carolyn Bradley, State of Pennsylvania; other relatives and many friends.
Cremation. A Celebration of Life Visitation was held Sunday, August 16, 2015 at the Sycamore Grove Mennonite Church near Garden City with a Celebration of Life Service to follow after the visitation.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Sycamore Grove Mennonite Church Memorial Fund.
Final arrangements entrusted to Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri.
