Richard Dean Sheppard, born August 30, 1957, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family at St. Lukes Lees Summit, MO. Richard was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose storytelling and warm presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Richard had a deep love for the outdoors. He especially enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, hunting for arrowheads, and spending time in nature. Some of his greatest joys came from being with friends and family, where he was well known for sharing stories that could make anyone laugh and feel at home. His steady spirit and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He was preceded in life by his parents, Jim and Annetta Sheppard of Latour, MO, nephew Jeremy Sheppard of Amsterdam, MO. Grandparents, many aunts and uncles.
Richard is lovingly survived by his daughter, Terra Sheppard of Holden; his brother, Mike Sheppard and wife Robby Sheppard of Amsterdam, MO; his cherished grandchildren, Anna VanMeter, Benjamin VanMeter, Wallace Walker, and Lilly Walker, niece Jayme Watson and husband Shelton of Kansas City; He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members, and dear friends who will continue to honor his memory.
Richard will be remembered for his love of family, his appreciation of the simple joys in life, and the stories that brought people together. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held Saturday, March 28th at the Garden City Community Building 201 Willow Ln Garden City, MO from 1:00 PM - 5PM. The family asks that those who wish to honor his memory spend time outdoors, share a good story, and hold their loved ones close. The family will be serving food.
