Robert Aaron ""Bob"" Gillespie, of Harrisonville, Missouri was born November 28, 1926 in Harrisonville, the son of Aaron Robert and Helen Magdelyn (Rice) Gillespie. He departed this life Friday, August 5, 2005 at his home in Harrisonville at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 7 days.
On March 12, 1948 Bob was united in marriage to Eva Maxine Logsdon in Kansas City, Missouri.
Robert was employed as an electrician until his retirement in 1989. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Bob was a member of Shawnee Masonic Lodge #54 A.F. & A.M., Shawnee, Kansas; IBEW Local 124 for over 50 years, Kansas City, Missouri, Ararat Shrine, Cass County Shrine Club, VFW Post #4409, Hurley Lee Spicer Post #42 of the American Legion, 11 year member of Cass County Elks Lodge #2791 all of Harrisonville. Bob was down to earth and hardworking, who enjoyed his cattle and farm. His dry humor gained him many friends and stories could be told, have been told and will be told.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alexander Wilson and Anna Laura Gillespie, who raised him and a great-grandson, Aaron Wayne Warren.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine Gillespie of the home; a daughter, Vickie Tudor and husband, Dean, Harrisonville, Missouri; two granddaughters, Anna Lee Warren and husband, Jason and Amanda Lee Svetlecic; two great-grandchildren, Ashlynn Warren and Aric Warren; three half-brothers, Bill Traylor, Kansas City, Missouri, Jim Traylor, Vermillion, Ohio, Tom Traylor. Pembroke Pines, Florida; a half-sister, Norma Lloyd, Davenport, Iowa; his two companions, Gracie and Cuddles; a sister-in-law, Lee Bellamy, Harrisonville, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Mo. with interment in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, Mo.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice.
