Robert Jene "Andy" Anderson of Cameron, Missouri was born April 1, 1923 in Topeka, Kansas the son of Elmer H and Lucinda Merle (Cowan) Anderson. He departed this life on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron Missouri at the age of 94 years and 21 days.
Andy was employed as a machinist before his retirement. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Andy was a farm boy at heart and his favorite past time was fishing every opportunity he got. He loved moving around the country and lived several years with his wife, Evelyn, on a small farm they owned in Bentonville Arkansas until they moved to Topeka Kansas to care for his mother before her death. Soon after that they moved to Archie Missouri in a small retirement village where they stayed for 14 years only to move closer to family in Kansas City for Evelyn's last years.
Andy is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Evelyn Elaine (Bates) Anderson.
He is survived by two sons, Jim and Fred Cowan, two step-sons, Daniel and John Bates, one step-daughter, Madelaine Cockrum, and their respective spouses, all of Kansas City. He also leaves behind a grandson, Terry Cowan, 6 step-grandchildren, many great grandchildren and step-grandchildren, and a host of friends.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas.
Final arrangements are under the care of Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
