Robert Thomas

Robert Leroy Thomas of Garden City, Missouri was born December 25, 1933 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Walter F. and Blanche (Brown) Thomas. He departed this life Friday, April 13, 2007 at his home near Garden City at the age of 73 years, 3 months and 18 days.
On April 5, 1952, Robert was united in marriage to Edith Marie French in Kansas City, Missouri.
Robert was employed for 36 years as a mechanic for Missouri Gas Energy, Kansas City until his retirement. He also was a farmer and stockman. He was a member of Local # 781 Kansas City. Robert enjoyed his family, fishing, hunting and the outdoors. He had lived in Kansas City before moving to Garden City in 1959.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Earl, Clyde, Walter, Paul and Pete and a sister, Marie Thomas.
He is survived by his wife, Edith M. Thomas of the home; five sons, Michael Thomas and wife, Barbara, Mark Thomas and wife, Becky, Chris Thomas, Neil Thomas and wife, Laurie, John Thomas all of Garden City, Missouri; a daughter, Wendy Flanigan and husband, Harold, Belton, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Garden City Cemetery.
