Roberta (Knight) Cox, of Belton, Missouri, was born on June 28, 1953, and passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025.
Roberta was born in Kansas City, KS to Walter Knight and Betty Jean Button and was the third of six children.
She graduated from Wyandotte High School and went on to receive her Medical Assistant certification. She held many jobs in her lifetime, but all were centered around caring for others..
She became a proud mother to Joel Peknik in 1977. She married John Cox in 2000 and they moved to Belton in 2001 where they grew an abundance of vegetables, raised beloved pets, and befriended many neighbors and their children.
Roberta is survived by John Cox (of the home), Joel (Hilary) Peknik, and siblings Glenn (Cindy) Knight, Sheila (Roger) Thomas, Reva White, and Annie, the family dog.
She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Betty and her brothers Tony and Norman.
An informal celebration and gathering will take place on September 5th at 5:00-7:00 PM at the A. Ives Reid Celebration Center (609 Minnie Ave, Belton, MO 64012) at Memorial Park in Belton, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Donations can be made through the link or mailed to Dickey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 432, Harrisonville, Missouri 64701.
