Roland C. Dubey

Roland Clarence “Butch” Dubey, 69, of Smithville, Missouri, was born August 20, 1949 in Hartland, Maine, the son of Roland Clarence, Sr. and Barbara Louise “Anna” (Caldwell) Dubey. He departed this life on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at North Kansas City Hospital, surrounded with love and family.

Butch was a 1968 Hartland Academy High School graduate.

On May 5, 1973, he was united in marriage to Jane Charlotte Seekins in Hartland.

Butch was a gifted carpenter and jack of all trades. He and his wife owned and operated a floral business in Hartland and then North Star Drywall in Epping, New Hampshire for many years. Later in life he worked at the Kansas City International Airport as a bus driver for Hertz Rent-a-Car and then retired as a security guard from Unigard in 2013. He was an inventor and tinkerer; he could fix anything and was meticulous in all his work. He served as bus driver, youth leader and as a trustee for the Grace Linn United Methodist Church in Hartland, and then youth leader at Goodwins Mills United Methodist Church in Lyman, Maine. He enjoyed oil painting, fishing, prospecting and wood burning, but most importantly spending time with his family and friends.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents and an elder sister, Linda Dubey.

He is survived by his wife, Jane; four children: Dale Dubey of Detroit, Maine, Angela Pasch of Clarksville, Tennessee, Kristan (and Jon) Daily of Parkville, Missouri, and Danielle Dubey of Kansas City, Missouri; six grandchildren: Lauren (and Lyle) Dube of Kansas City, Zachary (and Tory) Pasch of Kansas City, Alan Pasch of Clarksville, Noah Pasch of Kansas City, Anna Bishop of Kansas City, and Keegan Daily of Parkville; his sister Dinah Armstrong of Palmyra, Maine; one niece, Darcy (and Jason) Erb of East Newport, Maine; one great niece, Devan Armstrong of East Newport; other relatives; and a host of many friends.

An open house to celebrate Butch’s life was held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Platte County Campus, 8017 NW Hampton Rd., Kansas City, Missouri 64152.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to assist with medical expenses may be sent in care of the funeral home.
