Roy E Frampton, Jr was born in Denver Co on April 24, 1940, and departed this world on Saturday Dec. 4, 2021 after a very brief battle with cancer. His exit was a peaceful one, and he was welcomed home to his eternal resting place.
Roy, better known as “Boom Papa”, Dad, or Grandpa, was a Marine, and while he didn’t make a career out of that lifestyle, the marine way of life was evident in the way he lived and made decisions. He was a Teamster, he loved driving a truck and often dreamed of going back out on the road “one day”. Roy was a proud Union Member, and retired from Fairmont Zarda Dairy before he was 60. He was a hard worker, lived a good life after retirement and would always joke that he had tomorrow off. Roy was an avid bowler, and was on a league up until the time a stroke took his balance away. He loved to fish, he loved to garden, and he loved sports. He could build just about anything. Roy enjoyed gamblilng, and he just knew he was going to strike it rich one day playing the slots or powerball. He loved to dream of the what ifs.
Roy loved his family. There wasn’t a family event that you wouldn’t find him at. Usually he was in his car listening to the game, walking around whatever event was going on, or just sitting off to the side, but he was always there; almost always with a Pepsi in hand.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy E Frampton, Sr., mother Leona Mae Stice, and 2 sisters Clara Atchley and Laverna Jenson.
He is survived by his son Randall Frampton of Oak Grove, His daughter Leah & husband Michael Whitehead of Harrisonville MO, and his son Travis Frampton of Wyandotte OK, a step daughter Andrea Shipp of Lee’s Summit, and a step son Sam & wife Ronda Shipp and family of Napoleon MO. Also surviving are his grandkids, Kristen Frampton, Nikki Frampton, Tyler Frampton, Mikinzi Ash, Lindzi Ash and Michael Whitehead Jr, 2 great grandkids; Sarienna Farley and Braxton Blackburn, 2 step grandkids Rebeka & Haiden Whitehead, and his brother Raymond Frampton of Warsaw MO. Among many other nieces, nephews, family & friends
Roy knew how to make you laugh. He was charming yet quiet. He was a man of few words. His battle with cancer came quick and ended even quicker. Because he didn’t suffer, we are thankful. Yet we find ourselves asking why, why now, why this fast, why at all? To which I can hear him saying “to make little boys/girls like you ask questions. Worked to didn’t it!?”
