Sarah Smothermon age 49 of Garden City, Missouri departed this life Wednesday, January 7th, 2026 at her home in Garden City, Missouri surrounded by love and family. Sarah was born November 23rd, 1976 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, to Kim Clemons and Arnold Grass.
Sarah graduated high school in Appleton City, Missouri, then went on to become an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse). Later, Sarah went back to school, while raising her children, to then become a RN (Registered Nurse).
Sarah married Wesley Smothermon February 17th, 2005 in Miami, Oklahoma. Sarah loved helping and supporting her children during sports events or other activities. She especially loved helping coach cheer teams and make hair bows for various sports teams that her daughters were involved in. Some would say Sarah was a workaholic, but she truly just loved her career as a nurse and had a passion for helping and caring for others. Sarah was a member of a few different churches throughout the years and being a member of her church, she loved volunteering to help with events such as vacation bible school and many others.
Sarah was an amazing mother, a devoted wife, a wonderful friend and an outstanding nurse.
Remaining to cherish Sarah’s memory are her spouse, Wesley Smothermon; her children, Hannah Smothermon, Leela Smothermon, Abbigail Smothermon, Seth Smothermon, Mary Smothermon, and Naomi Smothermon; as well as her mother, Kim Piepmeier.
Preceding Sarah in death is her father, Arnold Grass.
Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2026 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harisonville, Missouri. Inurnment will take place at Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri at a later date.
Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2026 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
