Shirley Scott age 92 of Harrisonville, Missouri formally of Garden City, Missouri departed this life Friday, January 30, 2026 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center, Overland Park, Kansas.

Shirley was a dedicated homemaker, loving babysitter, and bookkeeper for Wayne Scott & Sons Excavating in Harrisonville, Missouri. Through her work and daily life, she showed commitment, reliability, and a strong work ethic that reflected her caring spirit.

She was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Garden City, Missouri, and was actively involved in the WE Women’s Club in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Her faith guided her every day, and she made it a priority to read her Bible daily, drawing strength and comfort from her spiritual life.

A wonderful cook, Shirley found great joy in preparing meals and hosting family gatherings. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, laughter, and love, where memories were made, and traditions were shared. She especially treasured time spent with her family and grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

In her quieter moments, Shirley enjoyed writing poetry and exploring her family history through genealogy and ancestry research. She was an avid reader and recently discovered a love for author Janet Evanovich’s novels.

Shirley was also known for her love of classic television and music. A devoted fan of Tom Selleck, she never missed an episode of Blue Bloods. She also greatly enjoyed listening to Daniel O’Donnell, The Presley’s, Hee Haw and the Grand Ole Opry on the RFD Channel, which brought her comfort and joy.

Above all, Shirley will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and the deep love she had for her family. Her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched and the cherished memories she leaves behind.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Oda Shumaker and Florence Viola Ground, her beloved husband, Wayne Scott, her sister, Jessie Gray, brother-in-law Jimmy Sanders, and sister-in-law Janie Sanders.

Shirley is survived by her sons, Keith Scott and wife Marti, Kenny Scott and wife Linda, and her daughter, Janet Burlingame and husband Chad.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Danny Scott and fiancé Abbie, Jeremy Moore and wife Lisa, Marissa Scott, Stacey Ipock and significant other Jonathan Wallace, Kenny “Bubba” Scott and wife Katie, Steven Bennett, Scott Bennett, Sabrina Helgeson, Dustin Osborn, Derek Burlingame and wife Jessica, Chase Burlingame and fiancé Jacklyn Armintrout, and Lauren Burlingame. Her great-grandchildren include Taylor, Gage, and Braedon Scott; Addilynn and Keenen Engelhardt; Carter and Jacob Moore; Lexi Scott; Kristen Ipock; Mackenzie Brewer and husband Charlie; Cash Pasley; Bentley and Berkley Scott; Walker and Kimber Burlingame, and her great-great-grandchildren, Kaizen Redwine, Kooper Ipock and Greyson Brewer.

Additional survivors include her sister, Cathy Onwiler; brother and sister-in-law, Shelby and Hazel Scott; niece, Jenn Hoyt and husband Steven; great-niece and nephew, James and Lilly Graham, April, Christopher, and Amanda Hoyt; nephews, Larry Dean Onwiler and wife Treava and Russell Sanders; niece, Diane Sanders; great-nephews, Skylar and Hunter Williams; and cousins, Pat, Joe, and Rick Schneider.

Funeral Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2026 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with interment at Vansant Road Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri.

Visitation will be held 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2026 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
